  We searched for a restaurant with beer. They have a full bar! Great friendly service and a TON of food. Central Hope on Wallace. 293 Wallace is closed.

  Our go-to-place for dinner the second night of a recent July stay in Hope.  The restaurant was a "been there, done that", and we were not too happy with that earlier dining experience.  But heh, that was a good while ago, and we figured it was worth a second chance.  Plus, it was a lovely, bright, sunny, and warm late-afternoon, the restaurant was only a 'short' walk away -- so we decided - it was "let's walk over, and give it a try" time.
  
  We chose the same table upon entering, and as before, decided to dine from 'all-you-can-eat' buffet offerings.  We accepted the server's offer of some hot tea, then went up for our first look.  It looked a rather heavy touch short side for some fresh stuff, especially veggies, meats & such, and we indicated that to them.  We each took an initial sample of what was there, at the time, and returned to our table.
  
  While doing so, more customers (two large families, and others) came in, which really helped to stimulate the kitchen staff to add to, and replenish the trays.  So for our second 'go' to the buffet table, there really was a good, and varied offering of choices.  And unlike much of what we experienced when dining there previously, some rather good, colourful, flavourful, and tasty preparations!
  
  After those first, initial small tastings (most of which we left on plates to be returned to the kitchen!), we did good, and really enjoyed our meals (which for me, included a good helping of the various ice creams!!).
  
  Seems 'timing' is the key to dining there.  We had stopped in a touch too early, but when joined by a significant number of other diners, the food scene sure changed for the better.  Though rather pricey, with a "shaky" start, we ended up rather enjoying this dining experience at the 'Golden Star'.

  Good chineese good, it was no problem that we came earlier for the dinner. We chose a meal for four but it was too much so we took the rest away. So we had a dinner for two days actually.

  Had buffet for lunch. Not so many choices for lunch. Fried chicken wings, long beans, fried potatoes, fried rice......fruit and ice cream. Average.....I think they should get more vegetable.
